What if every Oregonian read the same book?

"A book is a friend; a good book is a good friend. It will talk to you when you want it to talk, and it will keep still when you want it to keep still; and there are not many friends who know enough to do that."

—B. A. Billingsly

Your Library Card

Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.

Who can get a card
If you live within the Mount Angel City limits this is your library, supported by property taxes. There is no additonal charge for a library card. Your card provides you access to the materials within the Mt Angel Public Library and to the 1.5 million items in the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service system.

+++++

If you are 14 or younger and live outside the city limits there is no charge for a library card due to a special program at the library to encourage youth to read. Young adult and children's materials can be checked out on these specific cards.

If you are 15 or older and live outside the city limits you are entitled to a library card which will enable you to check out 1 book at a time and place 1 hold at a time. In order to check out more books, place more holds and have the full services of the 18 member regional library, the fee for a family in one household is $60 per year, to match the amount city residents pay annually in property taxes for the local library.

Mount Angel is one of the few libraries which offers a local option card for rural patrons. For a $25 annual fee per household you may have unlimited access to the Mt Angel collection. This means instead of being limited to one checkout and one hold, you may check out an armload of books and place multiple holds. The local option card is only honored at the library which provides it. If you purchase a local option card you are still entitled to a regular card which is good for one checkout/hold at any other library in CCRLS.

+++++

If you live outside Polk, Yamhill or Marion County you are not part of the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library System. For an annual household fee of $75 you may purchase a card to access CCRLS materials.

How to Get Your Card
All cards require that you show proof of ID and proof of address. Acceptable identification is a valid picture ID (such as a current Oregon driver's license or ID card) that has your current address. If you do not have the current address on your picture ID, we will need a current utility bill for verification of address. Cards for youth require ID from the parent showing proof of address, and the parent is responsible for materials borrowed on their children's cards.

Borrowing Materials

All books, magazines and recorded books check out for a 3 week period and may be renewed once. Videos and DVDs check out for 1 week and may be renewed once. There are no renewals on materials which are on hold for another patron.

Placing Holds

A hold is a reservation for material which is not currently available. You may place holds online any time. You may check your record to see what you have on hold, when it is in transit, and when it is being held at the library waiting for you to pick it up.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

You may renew one time as long as no one has a hold on the material. Renewals repeat the length of the original checkout.

Library Fines

Mt Angel Public Library overdue fines are assessed at .15 per day for all reading materials and .50 per day for videos.
